Chase the cheese
Featured in the new Netflix series We Are the Champions, the Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake is an annual event held near Gloucester. Participants race down the 200-yard-long hill after a nine-pound round of Double Gloucester cheese – another of Gloucestershire’s finest exports.
In the historic Gloucester Docks and along the UK’s longest river, the River Severn.
Once a Victorian warehouse – now transformed into an indoor climbing and caving centre.
Ski & snowboard
Gloucester has its very own dry ski slope, for winter sports all year round.
Cheltenham Lido is one of the UK’s largest outdoor swimming pools – plus they offer student discounts.
A 2-minute walk from Pittville Student Village is Pittville Park. Hire a rowing boat, use the tennis court, go golfing or skating and simply relax in the beautiful grounds.
Cycle through ancient forests
Take your own bike or hire one and explore the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean.

As well as placements, our students benefit from guest lectures and live briefs, plus our very own Growth Hub partners students with local businesses to help them thrive.
Home to Harry Potter
The cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral were used to film scenes at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, as was the nearby Forest of Dean which featured in the seventh movie and book. The county is also home to J. K. Rowling, who grew up and went to school in Tutshill.
Gloucestershire is and has been home to many a celebrity including, J. K. Rowling, Simon Pegg, several members of the royal family, Fifty Shades… actor Jamie Dornan, singer FKA Twigs and is home to This Country actors Daisy May Cooper and her brother, Charlie.
Home of the Haunted
The most haunted village in the UK, castles, prisons and old manor houses all offer ghost tours and evenings of terror to those brave enough. From sightings of charging headless horsemen and the watchful gaze of the churchyard monk, to the screams of royal murder – experience the county’s history first-hand.

Park Campus, Cheltenham
These beautiful grounds were originally laid out as a zoological garden. Now, they’re a creative hub for our art, media and technology students to collaborate and inspire each other. Set in the Montpellier district of the town, the campus has a real buzz surrounded by Georgian villas, botanical gardens, bars and boutiques.

Francis Close Hall Campus, Cheltenham
Referred to as the ‘Hogwarts campus’ the ivy-clad, Gothic grounds sit alongside high-tech labs and bespoke studios. The buildings are Grade II listed and made of the famous Cotswold stone which gives the campus a bright glow all year round. A 5-minute walk from the town centre and beautiful parks, plus some of the best local bars and pubs.

Oxstalls Campus, Gloucester
This is a high-energy campus of forward-thinking and competitive students. Here, we train for the frontline of healthcare, perform and produce shows, work alongside elite athletes and make global business connections.
Located 15mins’ walk from Gloucester city centre and Kingsholm Rugby Stadium, you’ll have easy access to clubs, bars, shops and live sport.

E-scooters on every campus
Zwing e-scooters are available on all our campuses. They’re a fun and sustainable way to do short journeys into Cheltenham and Gloucester or between campuses and accommodation.
It’s £1 to unlock a scooter, then 15p per minute. The scooters reach a top speed of 15mph and are geofenced to slowly stop if ridden outside the prescribed areas.
Please note that the use of other e-scooters remains illegal, and only these official scooters can be ridden legally in Cheltenham and Gloucester during this trial.
