Please read all the below information on the range of halls and private accommodation available to you.
We have an accommodation guarantee date for UK international students. Find out more about our accommodation guarantee.
We offer a Halls accommodation guarantee in university or partner-managed halls of residence for undergraduate, postgraduate, and international students who meet the following criteria:
Applicants will need a Conditional or Unconditional Firm Offer with the University to complete the Halls of Residence application process.
Our January Halls of Residence contract will run until 21 June 2025
We have a range of halls of residence accommodation available to international students across Cheltenham and Gloucester. Some are managed by the University and others by partner companies.
Prices range from £150 per week (a room with shared kitchen and bathroom) to £240 per week (self-contained studio).
The majority of our rooms are en-suite (personal shower room) with shared kitchens, which range from £163 – £194 per week.
You can apply to live in halls of residence if you are a full-time student and are looking for a single-occupancy room.
Standard halls contracts in University-managed halls are fully inclusive of all your bills and end on 21 June 2025.
Please note: once you have accepted your place in Halls of Residence and have moved in, your agreement is legally binding, and you will not be released from the accommodation should you change your mind.
Do not accept a contract if you intend to look for alternative accommodation on arrival. You will be liable for the payment for the full period of the contract, even if you leave earlier, so to avoid disappointment and financial difficulty, be sure you are happy with the full contract.
When we send you a room offer, you only need to make a £200 advanced rent payment to secure your room. If you have queries about your allocation or wish to ask about longer contract lengths you can email our Halls Allocations team: [email protected].
For new January international postgraduate arrivals there are limited rooms available in Halls of Residence on a short-term contract.
These contracts run until Saturday 14 April 2025.
You can apply for an Original ensuite room in Pittville Student Village in Cheltenham (£180pw), or an en-suite room in Ermin Hall in Gloucester (£163pw) based on a minimum 12-week contract.
These rooms are not guaranteed and will be offered depending on availability. If all available rooms are filled, we will confirm this to you.
You can apply for this short-term Halls of Residence option here.
The University does not provide temporary accommodation. Therefore, this is something you would need to search for externally. If you would like a list of external temporary accommodation options, please email the Housing Support Team.
The University has a dedicated website for students at the university to find accommodation in approved shared student housing in the private sector. This is where you rent a property directly from a private landlord.
You can find all approved accommodation at: www.glosstudentpad.com
You need to contact the landlords directly from the site to enquire about specific properties. All contact details are on each advert for each landlord, and in most cases, you can send a message through the site.
All properties on the site are registered with the university and meet certain health and safety criteria. Each property will vary in size, location, rental amount and standard, so it is important that you view several properties before making your final decision.
All these properties are shared student housing, where you take a room in a property, sharing the communal spaces with other students. It is important to visit the property and meet the other housemates, where possible, to ensure you feel comfortable that it is a suitable environment for you to live and study.
It’s very important you view the property and meet the tenants before committing to a property – we would recommend that you book temporary accommodation for your arrival and allow yourself time to conduct in-person viewings.
If you have an adult within the property that is not a full-time student, they may be liable for Council Tax as well; details on council tax charges and how to set up your bills can be found below:

General advice for international students about council tax and exemptions can be found on the UKCISA website.

If you wish to discuss your accommodation options further, on the phone, via email or via a Teams Call, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will arrange a time with a member of staff.
