Institute of Coding Skills Bootcamp

Gain and improve your tech skills with our IoC Skills Bootcamp. Flexible courses which can fast-track to an interview with an employer.

Skills Bootcamps are due to start, week commencing 29 November 2021.

Skills Bootcamps are flexible, 16-week courses that offer opportunities to learn and develop skills in tech, which fast-track you to an interview with an employer.

They’ve been developed by the Government as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs, in partnership with employers, providers, and local authorities, to help people develop the skills that are in demand in their local area and grow into a new role and career.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be aged 19 or over and:

  • have proof of their right to live and work within the United Kingdom
  • agree to provide mandatory personal data and supplementary information on their employment outcomes for up to 8 months following completion of the Skills Bootcamp
  • be looking for a new role, new opportunities or increased responsibility/promotion to a different role which utilises the skills acquired through their Skills Bootcamp
  • be employed, self employed or unemployed within the last 12 months.
Park Campus

Study style

Training will be delivered via a mix of face-to-face at the University of Gloucestershire Park Campus, and virtual sessions where students can take part through Microsoft Teams.

Additionally, all face-to-face sessions will be video recorded and made available to all students over the 16-week period. We expect students to commit to up to 12 hours of teaching each week.

All course materials will be provided to students through our virtual learning environment (Moodle), which is available 24 hours a day. This will include lecture notes, recordings of lectures, access to digital background reading, tutorials, exercises, quizzes, etc.

Bootcamp in Cyber Analysis

Students who enroll in the Cyber Analysis Bootcamp will learn how to implement, maintain and support the security controls that protect an organisation’s systems and data assets from threats and hazards. This ensures that security technologies and practices are operating in accordance with the organisation’s policies and standards to provide continued protection.

You will gain a broad understanding of network infrastructure, software and data to identify where threats and hazards can occur. You will learn to perform periodic vulnerability assessments, evaluating the organisation’s ongoing security posture and will provide visibility to management of the main risks and control status on an ongoing basis.

Bootcamp in Software Engineering

Students who enroll in the Software Engineering Bootcamp will develop the skills to design, build and test high-quality software solutions. You will learn to apply engineering principles to all stages of the software development process whilst ensuring robust security measures are built-in.

Bootcamp in Data Science

Students who enroll in the Data Science Bootcamp will learn how to find information in diverse datasets to address complex problems and improve organisational processes. You nwill learn how to source, access and manipulate data, and use the insights they have gathered to inform and achieve organisational goal.

Data science is a growing sector, with the potential to change the way we live in the future by solving or offering insights into many of the largest problems of today. On this dynamic course, you’ll learn the programming and maths skills to use these technologies to solve the real-world problems relevant to your existing knowledge and expertise.

You’ll learn to create intelligent models which can predict future outcomes based on past data, generate artwork, or give you incredible insight into hard-to-find connections within your datasets. You’ll gain a deep understanding of data flows within organisations and systems, and how huge amounts of data can be engineered to produce knowledge.

Fees

All Skills Bootcamps are available to study for free for those who are unemployed.

Employers who intend to send existing employees who meet the Skills Bootcamp entry requirements on this training get a 70% discount.
