Here at UoG we love rugby league and want our players to thrive in the best possible environment. We have a strong history of producing very good rugby league players.

We have a highly competitive team who play their fixtures against other universities in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league. Our team are in the highest league, the PREM.

Our team is coached by Jay Woodley who also coaches at the All Golds rugby club in Bristol.

Rugby League Performance Pathway

Players who gain entry to the UoG competitive team will have access to the extra benefits of being on our performance sport pathway. These include:

In addition to this, some players may also be eligible for a sports scholarship bursary payment. Meet the coach: Jay Woodley

Our team is coached by Jay Woodley who is a Level 2 qualified coach in both rugby league and union, as well as graduating with BSC (Hons) Sports Coaching.

Jay is a UoG alumni who currently also coaches the All Golds and Golden Ferns club sides in Bristol, as well as being involved with the South and South-West universities regional programmes. 

Jay is currently playing for North Bristol RFC and has previously played for All Golds.

We work closely with Bristol-based All Golds Rugby League who give many of our students playing and coaching opportunities.
