Email sportscholarships@glos.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Scholarships across three disciplines

If you are aspiring to reach the highest levels in your sport, we can help you get there. The University runs scholarship programmes to help talented athletes, officials and coaches achieve their goals across a wide range of sports.

We can help you maximise your potential as a dual-career scholar – as successful in your studies as you are in your sport. Sports Scholars also have the freedom to choose to study any degree programme across any of our campuses.

Performance pathways

University of Gloucestershire offers sports scholarships to elite performers in a range of sports. Scholarships are most likely to be awarded to performers in sports on the Olympic pathway, as well as those which are available in the British Universities and Collages Sport (BUCS) leagues and competitions. Sports scholars will be expected to represent UoG at BUCS competitions.*

*There may be some exception to this by prior approval.

We also have a performance pathway for aspiring talented players in our performance sports: women’s football, men’s basketball, women’s netball and men’s rugby league. Click the links below to find out more about each of these performance pathways and enquire about trials.

We also hold TASS Dual Career Accreditation, which recognises an education institution’s commitment to support talented athletes who are in full time education. The scheme acknowledges an enhanced level of academic flexibility and understanding within an institution, allowing talented athletes to balance their studies with a hectic sporting schedule.

What does the university expect from scholars?

Sports scholars will be expected to represent University of Gloucestershire in BUCS-level competition and be exemplary students, demonstrating high levels of attendance and academic engagement. Regular reviews will take place to monitor this. A sports scholarship agreement will need to be signed and our terms and conditions agreed to before the scholarship commences.
