What is a physical education degree?

A physical education degree course will allow you to develop your interest in primary or secondary school physical education, school sports development or in teaching children with special educational needs. It’s an ideal platform to progress on to a teacher training qualification such as a PGCE. However, graduates may also move into a range of other careers such as roles within community sports partnerships and national governing bodies of sport.

A physical education degree will typically include modules that include learning the types of sport and exercise offered in schools such as dance, athletics and gymnastics. You may also cover sport science subjects such as scientific principles in teaching and science of movement. During level 5 or level 6 you would carry out a professional work or school based placement.
