Halls of residence

Discover our halls of residence across Cheltenham and Gloucester.

We guarantee a place in halls for all first year undergraduate, postgraduate and international students.

What are halls of residence?

Halls of residence are a type of accommodation that’s available to all students – new, returning, postgraduate and international.

There are currently around 1,900 self-catered rooms available in halls on or near our campuses – each are close to the centre of Cheltenham or Gloucester and served by the university bus service.

Halls of residence may be university-managed or managed by a partner.

Partner halls of residence are privately run and have reserved rooms for University of Gloucestershire students. They are not managed by the university. Contracts will be direct with the third-party providers and different to those for university-managed halls.

Our halls of residence are ranked in the top 20 in the UK according to the Whatuni student Choice Awards 2023.

International accommodation

We have a range of accommodation options available to international students.

We will guarantee you a place in university or partner managed halls of residence if you accept a place at UoG and apply for accommodation by 1 July 2024.

How much do halls of residence cost?

Rooms in halls of residence range in price from £150 to £240 per week (2024/25 figures) depending on which type of room, townhouse or flat you choose. Regardless of which type of room you choose, your rent will include all utility bills with no caps (heating, water and electricity), internet and basic contents insurance. Halls contracts are usually 40 weeks long, which means you only pay for the academic year. Get in touch with our accommodation team to find out more.
